Superstar Mahesh Babu’s latest film, Guntur Kaaram, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, hit the screens on January 12, 2024. The film saw a massive drop at the domestic box office after a good Day 1 collection. Mahesh Babu film had a great fall after good start, earns ₹54 crore total.

Guntur Kaaram’s one-liner might sound like an off-spring of Attarintiki Daredi, but it still holds the emotional gravitas.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ had a good start, earning around Rs 41.30 crores nett in India. However, the early estimates for Day 2 suggests that the film was able to mint just Rs 13 crores approx. while it amassed 29 crores overseas, the total net collection of the film stands at Rs 54.30 crores. taking 2 days worldwide total to Rs 127 crores.

Mahesh Babu’s much-anticipated film witnessed a great opening of over ₹40 crore on Friday but Saturday gave a reality check amid negative to mixed reviews. The film released alongside another Telugu film HanuMan which had a low start but came very close to Guntur Kaaram on Saturday.

Guntur Kaaram is a film of contrasting qualities. While Mahesh Babu’s vibrant performance stands as a highlight, the film struggles to weave these into a cohesive and emotionally impactful narrative. Despite its striking cinematography and moments of engaging humour, the lack of depth in the story leaves the audience wanting more. The song “Kurchi Madathapetti” is effective on screen compared to the other four songs composed by Thaman.

Mahesh Babu is in terrific form. He has done dynamic performance, articulate delivery infused with wit and irony, his stylish demeanor, and his dance moves consistently captivate us, even during boring moments. He is present in nearly every scene, and tries to hold our attention.Sreeleela skills are exceptional when she performs dance to old songs. She desperately needs a professional dubbing voice.

The film is all about a son is asked to sign papers stating that he would have nothing to do with his mother, her wealth or political power. But he seeks answers to unhealed wounds.

Guntur Kaaram movie classified as a formulaic commercial family entertainer. The film avoids gratuitous violence commonly found in today’s big star movies, it suffers from outdated sequences and a lack of emotional depth. The film largely hinges on Mahesh Babu’s star power and his performance.
