Mild earthquake hits Assam, temblors felt in West Bengal, Bihar, entire Northeast

Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR on Friday night. An earthquake of 6.4 magnitude was reported in Nepal, which caused massive shocks in North Indian cities, including Delhi-NCR.

A mild earthquake struck Assam’s Kokrajhar moment. The earthquake was measured at a magnitude of5.5 on the Richter scale. Earthquake temblors were felt each around the region. Earthquake temblors were felt in West Bengal and Bihar, to the west of the epicentre, and over to Arunachal Pradesh to the east. Earthquake temblors were felt in nearly the total of West Bengal, including Kolkata as well as Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Malda and Mushidabad.

In Bihar, earthquake temblors were felt in Patna as well as corridor of Kishanganj, Purnea and Katihar. temblors were also felt in Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.* Vineet Gahlaut, the director of National Seismology Center, said that the earthquake was of magnitude5.5 and struck at a depth of about 10- 12 kms from face.
