A complaint has been filed against actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family members in Mumbai for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
The complaint was filed on Wednesday by one Sanjay Tiwari at Ghatkopar police station through his lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra., according to news agency PTI Tiwari claimed that in the video the actor is seen pouring liquor on cake and setting it on fire while saying “Jai Mata Di”.
The video was taken at the Kapoor family’s annual Christmas lunch and it grabbed a lot of eyeballs on the internet.
The complaint has been filed by Bombay High Court’s advocates Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra in which they have demanded to register a case under sections 295A, 298,500 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case yet.
In Hinduism, fire god is invoked before invoking other deities, but Ranbir Kapoor and his family members deliberately used intoxicants while celebrating the festival of another religion and chanted “Jai Mata Di”, the complaint said.
